Australian Youth Affairs Conference
Preparations are underway for Australia’s first national youth sector conference since 2007. It will be held in Sydney, from May 30-June 1, 2011. We anticipate that in excess of 500 delegates will attend the conference, to access the most recent information about what’s happening in the area of youth policy, research, development and practice, and to develop networks and contacts throughout the youth sector.
The conference theme for 2011 is: Interrupting Transmission: youth | change | policy | practice
This event represents an opportunity to think about the ways we might interrupt unjust patterns, and to interrupt ourselves to enable reflection on the position of young people and the youth sector. Transmission focuses on communications, and can also describe the process of going from one place to another. By incorporating youth, change, policy and practice, we’ll ensure that all segments of the youth sector are represented.?
The Australian Youth Research Centre is coordinating a research stream at the conference, with the ‘Youth’ Thematic Groups of TASA and the ISA (RC34). Australian contributions and international comparisons are invited. Abstracts for presentations, full papers and workshops are welcome. Please forward this invitation to any youth researcher that might wish to present at the Conference.
