The Centre for the Study of Ethnicity and Citizenship at the University of Bristol is pleased to announce a one-day symposium on:
Ethnicity and educational inequality: The role of aspirations
University of Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom 19th August 2015 (9:00 – 16:00)
The role of aspirations in understanding educational inequality has been the focus of many studies over the past few decades. The debate whether these aspirations vary by ethnicity, class and gender, especially when it comes to converting aspirations into educational attainment and entry into higher education is ongoing.
This one-day conference aims to present leading-edge research focussing on the role of aspirations in understanding educational inequality. The conference will provide an excellent opportunity for academics, professionals and practitioners to present and discuss their research, exchange ideas and promote collaboration across-disciplines and between scholars working on similar questions.
We invite papers that are directly relevant to the conference theme. We also welcome papers that address various issues in education and inequality, ethnicity and education, migration and education as well as policy responses to educational inequality.
Please submit your abstract by June 22nd 2015 to: nabil.khattab@bristol.ac.uk
