The HIPS 2016 Travel Grants for Young Sociologists for 3rd ISA Forum

Application deadline: March 5, 2016

One of the Haverford Institute of Public Sociology principal missions is to represent voices and ideas of young sociologists from marginalized regions. The HIPS provides various resources for Central and Eastern European graduate sociologists working on their PhDs, or junior sociologists who recently were awarded their degrees, helping them develop networks and encourage their professional development.

Partnering with the ISA, the HIPS is pleased to announce that it is making available travel grants for the 2016 ISA 3rd Forum in Vienna to support the ISA President in her commitment to encourage young sociologists from the world periphery to overcome barriers in their participation in the ISA global exchanges.

The HIPS will award ten grants of $500 to eligible candidates to defray the costs of their attendance at the Forum.  Grant applications are encouraged particularly from young sociologists pursuing research that brings social science knowledge, methods and expertise to bear in addressing community–identified issues and concerns and supporting community organizations, local public interest groups and community action projects.

Eligibility:

Applications are encouraged from the Central and Eastern European graduate students working on their PhDs or junior sociologists who completed their PhDs in the last three years.

Application Submission:

Letter of application should be sent to HIPS by March 5th, 2016 to ssalameh@hipsnet.org

Successful applicants will be notified by the HIPS by March 20th, 2016.
