Sociological Studies of Children & Youth: Volume 21

 

Guest Editor: Yasemin Besen-Cassino, Associate Professor Department of Sociology Montclair State University

Sociological Studies of Children and Youth (SSCY) invites papers to be considered for a guest-edited edited volume that will explore the role of schools and education in young people’s lives. In print since 1986 and published by Emerald Insight, SSCY is a refereed publication formally affiliated as a sponsored publication of the ASA Section on Children and Youth.  This guest-edited volume will consider the lived experience of education and schools from the perspectives of youth and explore the contemporary issues and inequalities children and youth face today. The volume will also explore the intertwined nature of education and work. Some of the topics include, but are not limited to:

Technology and Schools

Standardized Testing

Bullying

Drugs/Alcohol

Extracurricular activities

Race

Gender

Class Inequality

Immigration

Work/School

Internships

Deadline for submissions: December 1, 2015

Manuscripts should be a maximum of 30 pages (14,500 words) including references, adhere to the series author guidelines, and use APA 6th Edition style.

Please submit manuscripts electronically to Guest Editor Yasemin Besen-Cassino (beseny@mail.montclair.edu) with “SSCY Volume 21” in the subject line. Submissions will undergo two peer reviews.  Publication of the volume will be in summer 2016.
